Phillip McIntyre is the Head of Discipline of Communication and Media at the University of Newcastle (UoN). I personally know Phillip as a lecturer I have had for a few courses while studying at UoN. He is well known for his work in the creative industry for over thirty years. Working as a music journalist, video and record producer, songwriter, producer, and researcher. Phillip offers a great amount of knowledge on the creative industries, having published a range of his research. His first book published in 2011 called 'Creativity and Cultural Production: issues for media practice', and most recent in 2018 'Educating for Creativity within Higher Education: Integration of research into media practice' being an example of this knowledge. Being fortunate enough to have Phillip as my lecturer, he opened my eyes to how must misunderstanding and how vague the creative industries are. The interview with Phillip outlines who he is, how he got into his profession, what the creative industry is, how those in the industry identify themselves, collaborate together, earn incomes, and elaborates on how the creative industries function and aid other industries that work alongside the creative industry. This gives the audience a greater idea of how important the creative industry is for not only the economy. More information about Phillip McIntyre can be found on his LinkedIn and website linked below.
